Monday Conference Update

1.  I have added another bus to our fleet, so hopefully you will not have to wait as long tomorrow as you did today.  First bus will leave at 7:30, then every 15 mins until 8:45, then every 30 mins starting at 9:00.  Breakfast is served at Lausanne from 8:00 - 9:45.  Sessions start at 9:30 and 9:45.

2. Airport transportation: I have arranged for THREE buses to go from Lausanne to the airport on Tuesday. These will leave at 12:00, 2:00, and 4:00. The ride time will be 30 minutes. All buses depart from the front of the theater.  Other buses will still run to / from the Peabody every thirty minutes throughout the day

3. Lunch on Tuesday is set up in serving stations, refer to the diagram linked here for where these stations are. This will help keep the lines moving.  This lunch is provided by our campus dining service, Sodexo.

4. The Laptopschools.com Ice Cream Truck will be here at 2:00 in front of the T Building (so as not to interfere with the bus stop).

5.  Closing session is only 30 minutes, begins at 3:30 in EPAC.  We will have doorprizes and everyone who stays until the end will receive another drink ticket on their way out!!!

6.  Closing celebration begins at 6:30 at Silky O'Sullivan's on Beale Street (corner of Beale and 3rd).  Come a little after 6:30 to avoid the crowd!  Will be great food, great drinks, great live music (two piano players inside and a live band outside!) - promises to be an evening to remember!  Thanks to WatchKnow.org for their sponsorship of this event.  We have the entire place until 9 p.m. - then you can stay as late as you want after that!

I hope you enjoy your evening and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Sunday's Conference Update

Dear,
What a great start to the 2010 Lausanne Laptop Institute! Thanks for your attendance today! We had 175 people at the preconference sessions, and a great turn out at our registration reception on the Peabody Rooftop! Also, a big "congrats" to St. Joseph's Academy and their School Spotlight award!
1. Just to make sure everyone knows, all session on Monday and Tuesday are held at the Lausanne campus beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the David Warlick's keynote in our theater.
2. Shuttles begin leaving the Peabody at  6:30 a.m. and run every 15 minutes throughout the morning. Make sure that you allow plenty of time. I can't guarantee that there will not be waits!  Travel time to Lausanne is about 30 mins.  Breakfast is provided at Lausanne from 7 a.m. - 8:30
3. If you were not able to register today or if you had a name tag change please stop by the conference headquarters first thing on Monday. This will be at the front of the theater.
4. Most sessions rooms will allow up to 40 people in them. Rodgers will seat 70 and the theater 500. If a session room is standing room only, or just too crowded, please make your way to another session. We will have all the presenter handouts and resources online a few weeks after the conference.
5.  Room T220 is next to T205 (out of order in the hallway, but you'll find it)
6.  "Building a Course Tookit Session" in room UM105 will start at 2:45 rather than 2:30.
7.  "Windows 7 Deployment" session is missing from the "At a Glance."  It will be held on Tuesday 9:45 in T204
8. If you would like to make appointments with any of our adminstrators or teachers here at Lausanne to discuss our laptop implementation or anything else, they would be more than happy to meet with you. Just let me know who and when!
9. Need a dinner idea for Monday night?
Blue Fin is very cool.  A good, different menu and not touristy:
Automatic Slims is where we were a few years ago for one of our dinners.  It is great as well: http://www.automaticslimsmemphis.com/
A local favorite is McEwens on Monroe: http://www.mcewensonmonroe.com/
Sole:  I have never been there and don't know much about it, but I have been told it is great:  http://www.solememphis.com/
Rendezvous is closed on Monday nights
Blues City Cafe on 2nd and Beale is great.
Enjoy!
